CANDIDATE
STATEMENT
As an active member of the Society since the first Board
took office, I appreciate all of the learning and experience
I have gained. In 2003-04 I was elected as the Society’s
Treasurer. I have worked on several committees, and spent
much time and energy with the engineering students of Ontario.
It has been a challenging and promising time for Engineering
in Ontario, and I would like to continue with the momentum
we have built and represent you on The Society’s Board
of Directors for another 3-year term.
As
we enter this year at the Society, the membership numbers
we have achieved encourage us. I believe that this is the
foundation of our organization, but one that is strengthened
solely by our long-term goal of advocacy.
Please
help me to ensure that engineering doesn’t continue
to fall behind the other learned professions of our society.
This is my goal. With a sound strategic plan, we can continually
focus our energy on raising awareness of the Engineering Contribution
to society. With a sound financial model, we will be able
to turn our strategy into specifics, such as our upcoming
training for BRRAG exams in 2004. Growing our Society won’t
be easy, but we can do it. Step by step.
As
a member of your Board of Directors I will help to make our
strategic advocacy and membership goals a reality. Step by
step. We owe it to our profession, to our students, and to
ourselves. Thanks for your support and being a voting member
of The Society.
