CANDIDATE STATEMENT
OSPE must undergo dramatic improvements in its objectives and methods to be the advocacy body that engineers need. Our OSPE for Engineers (O4E) team is your alternative to the status quo. See www.devita.com/o4e.

Are the following issues really being addressed to your satisfaction? Respect for the individual engineer; [Engineering incomes]; [Oversupply of engineers]; [Under-utilization of engineers]; [Exclusive scopes of practice]; [Industrial exemption]; [Innovation Gap]; [Industrial Strategy]

Re. Engineering Incomes: The incomes of professional engineers have fallen dramatically relative to those of the other professions. In 1961, Engineers earned 4% more than doctors. Doctors now earn over twice the incomes of engineers. Improving the incomes of Ontario's Professional Engineers is the PRIMARY reason for OSPE's existence. Let's get going!

Do you believe the following changes can improve OSPE? Balanced budgets; Collaboration with PEO Chapters; Real member involvement; President elected by all members. We are committed to improve OSPE.

Re. President Elected By All Members: The profession needs dynamic leadership that is sensitive and responsive to the Engineers. It is imperative that the President of OSPE be chosen by the OSPE members directly, and not by in-camera deal making! Members look to the OSPE President for leadership. They have the right to choose the ideas and the leader they desire.

"I consider it important, indeed urgently necessary, for intellectual workers to get together both to protect their own economic status and also, generally speaking to secure their influence in the political field..." – My Later Years by Albert Einstein. This must be OSPE's mission. The intellectual worker, due to his lack of organization, is less well-protected against arbitrariness and exploitation than a member of any other calling." – My Later Years by Albert Einstein

It is time for you to make a difference by electing the O4E team:
Peter M. DeVita + Danny Chui + R. Anthony Warner + John Clayton + John Schindler + Nabil El- Khazen + Alourdes Sully.

Make OSPE a fully functioning advocacy body by voting for me and your O4E team.
