Angela Shama, P.Eng.
Appointed to the position of Chief Executive Officer in April
2007, Angela Shama, P.Eng. brings a distinguished career in
association management and public affairs to the role.
Prior to joining OSPE, Ms. Shama was head of the Ontario
Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists
(OACETT). As Executive Director she led the 22,000 member
provincial Association responsible for the registration, accreditation
and certification of engineering and applied science technology
professionals in Ontario to significant membership and revenue
growth.
Most recently, Ms. Shama was the Director of Business Development
for the Colleges of Ontario Network for Education and Training
where she was responsible for establishing new strategic partnerships
and alliances with business, industry, and government in order
to maximize access to the training resources of Ontario’s
colleges.
Ms. Shama began her career as a chemical engineer with Atomic
Energy of Canada Ltd. and Imperial Oil. After several years
in the corporate sector, she entered the academic arena as
a professor at Lambton College in Sarnia. Ms. Shama continued
her career as a professor at Georgian College of Applied Arts
& Technology in Barrie before becoming Chair of the College's
School of Engineering Technology and then Academic Director.
She later became the Dean of Engineering Technology at Centennial
College, one of the largest Community Colleges in Ontario
where she spearheaded the development and approval of a $7.1
million proposal for a Centre for Engineering Design and Rapid
Manufacturing at the College.
A graduate of the University of Toronto, Ms. Shama holds
a Bachelor of Applied Science in Chemical Engineering and
is a licenced professional engineer in Ontario.
Angela Shama, in partnership with the Board of Directors,
is responsible for implementing the executive management of
all OSPE operational activities. In addition, she leads and
directs OSPE’s advocacy efforts, membership services,
professional development programs and related activities that
advance the professional and economic interests of engineers.
