  Board Meeting Reports

December 13, 2001

Following the General Assembly held in November, the December meeting of the Board was reserved for considering the resulting draft strategic plan. A holiday dinner followed the meeting.

At the Meeting of the Board on Thursday, December 13, 2001, the following decisions and reports were made:

EngineersFirst Affinity Services Proposal
Stuart McLeod, David Finley and Graham Donahue from By Association made a presentation about OSPE's proposed participation in their EngineersFirst affinity services pilot project. The Board agreed that OSPE enter into an agreement with EngineersFirst to provide access to affinity products and services for the membership on a pilot basis. All members, full and sustaining, will be given access to the EngineersFirst page of the OSPE website for the duration of the pilot.

Report from the CEO
The CEO noted that 2002 Budgets will be presented at the 17-Jan-02 board meeting.

March 21st Board Meeting in London, Ontario
The Board discussed holding their meeting of March 21 2002 in London, Ontario, in conjunction with a larger event that introduces OSPE and the board members to the broader community.

OSPE Strategic Plan
OSPE's draft strategic plan was presented to the board. Areas in the document that do not deal specifically with strategic initiatives will be revised. OSPE's mission and vision statements will be reviewed at the next meeting of the Board.

The Board of Directors approved the strategic initiatives outlined in the 2002 OSPE Strategic Plan, as follows:
Strengthen the Engineering Brand.
Build a "voice for engineers".
Make a solid contribution to the public policy process.
Engage students in the life of the profession.
Make quality professional training opportunities accessible.
Support members in meeting career challenges.
Provide valued and innovative members services.
Plan for long-term viability.
Create a "community of engineers".

PEO/CCPE
OSPE must negotiate with PEO to establish a common view as to what CCPE is, and work directly with PEO on the issue of OSPE representation on CCPE with respect to member services.
