Collection of Personal Information at OSPE

1. How Does OSPE Collect Personal Information?

OSPE may obtain and collect your Personal Information through the following means:

• Manual and Electronic Forms. We collect the personal information that members and other site visitors may voluntarily submit while using our services. We may also collect information about members from other sources, such as organizations affiliated with our organization (e.g. Professional Engineers Ontario).Members of the public can access our website without disclosing personal information. Our members may be asked to supply - on a voluntary basis - personal information, or update the information we currently have on file.
• Surveys. Occasionally, we conduct surveys regarding the engineering profession, OSPE's direction and member satisfaction.
• Anonymous Computer Interface. We automatically collect information about how users interact with our website. This usage is anonymous and is not linked to your specific e-mail or personal use of this site. We do so for technical administration purposes only. We do not use cookies directly on our website, however if you link to another site through our site, you may have cookies placed on your system.

OSPE does not disclose your personal information without your consent to any third parties other than agencies contracted to act on behalf of OSPE (these agencies will be required to sign a confidentiality and non-disclosure agreement). The services and links of our website

Our website enables you to communicate with members and other visitors or to post information to be accessed by others. When you do so, other visitors may collect the data you have posted. If you choose to use certain applications on our site, (example: Career Centre Discussion Group) other visitors may have access to your e-mail information and related data. Our website includes links to other service providers.

Confidentiality / Security

OSPE provides members the option of using a secure transmission method to send us the following types of personal information:

• primary personal information (such as name and contact details)
• other personal and profiling data

We have implemented security policies, rules and technical measures to protect the personal information that we have under our control from:

• unauthorized access improper use or disclosure
• unauthorized modification
• unlawful destruction or accidental loss

We work diligently with TD CanadaTrust to ensure the protection and security of your credit card information. All credit card online payment data is securely protected against access by unauthorized parties through the online credit card system of TD CanadaTrust. It is important for you to protect against unauthorized access to your password and to your computer by ensuring that you completely logoff when you are finished, especially when using a shared computer.

All of our employees and data processors who have access to, and are associated with the processing of personal information, are obliged to respect the confidentiality of our visitors' personal information. We ensure that your personal information will not be disclosed to Government institutions and authorities except if required by law or other regulation.

Upon your request, OSPE will provide you with a readable copy of the personal information we keep about you, within one week. Although we will require proof of your identity, we will provide the information without any charge. You can submit your request by:
