Dr. Tibor Turi, Ph.D. P.Eng.
Past Chair
Tibor Turi has been a professional engineer for more than 25 years. He holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Materials Engineering and a Ph.D. in engineering nanotechnology, as well as an Executive Certificate in Strategy and Innovation from the Sloan School of Management at MIT. Tibor is OSPE’s President and Chair, and former Chair of OSPE’s Board Development & Strategic Planning Committee and Research and Innovation Task Force.
Tibor has been a leader and advocate for innovation and industry-academic collaboration throughout his career. He has served as Regional Director of Business Development at the Ontario Centres of Excellence (OCE), where he led a team of Business Development Managers delivering the full Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Commercialization program portfolio, including applied research at Ontario colleges, health technologies, financial and cybersecurity technologies, and AI and smart cities.
Prior to OCE, Tibor founded and managed the Natural Science and Engineering Research Council of Canada’s (NSERC) Ontario Regional Office, where he focused on facilitating strategic research partnerships across the province. Tibor has also held private-sector leadership positions in research and development, technical design, product engineering, intellectual property, and product market development in the materials and manufacturing industries.
Tibor is a globally recognized innovation expert, an invited university lecturer, guest speaker and panelist at conferences, and is passionate about inspiring the next generation of engineers.
