At the Ontario Society of Professional Engineers (OSPE), we believe that equity and safety in the workplace are not only ethical imperatives but essential pillars of a thriving and innovative engineering profession. That’s why we’re proud to share that OSPE has partnered with White Ribbon to support the development and implementation of an evaluation framework for the Engineering Change project.
White Ribbon is the world’s largest movement of men and boys working to end violence against women and girls and promote gender equity, healthy relationships, and a new vision of masculinity. The Engineering Change initiative (delivered in collaboration with OSPE) focuses on preventing and addressing sexual harassment in the Canadian engineering sector.
The project’s goals are ambitious and critical:
- To increase engineering employers’ knowledge and skills in preventing and responding to sexual harassment in alignment with legal and ethical responsibilities.
- To ensure that individuals, especially those from vulnerable populations, know what to do and where to seek help when they experience or witness harassment.
- To shift the social norms in the engineering sector so that sexual harassment is no longer tolerated, condoned, or normalized.

Through this collaboration, OSPE will support White Ribbon in rolling out an evaluation framework designed to assess how well the Engineering Change program meets its objectives. The framework includes:
- A clear overview of the project’s goals and expected outcomes
- Key evaluation questions to guide data collection
- A mix of tools and data sources to measure progress
- Plans to communicate findings and improve program delivery based on evidence
By supporting this evaluation, OSPE is helping ensure that real change takes root in engineering workplaces, where everyone deserves to feel safe, respected, and valued.
We look forward to continuing this important partnership and working together toward a more equitable and inclusive engineering profession.
