The engineers who are elected to OSPE’s Board of Directors are committed to ensuring that your profession is headed in the right direction – a direction where your work is valued, and your voice heard.
The OSPE Board is composed of members who act as the strategic policy making body of the Society. The Board has an ongoing responsibility to maintain a consensus approach to decision making on policy matters.
Each spring, OSPE holds a board election that is structured to ensure a turnover of one-third of the Board members.
Nicholas Burgwin, P.Eng.
OSPE Chair
Nicholas Burgwin, P.Eng. has over ten years of engineering industry experience. He has founded two companies (Fibos Inc. and SustainableAF, a Sustainable Aviation Fuel database).
He has worked in academic institutions, including Toronto Metropolitan University and the University of Toronto, and he is now currently establishing the North American presence for a large European company in the green energy space.
Burgwin’s rich and varied industry experience gives him great insights into the needs of Ontario engineers. His passion for data, problem-solving, and community service are what encourage him to volunteer his unique skill set to the OSPE Board of Directors.
Burgwin studied electrical engineering at the University of Toronto and completed his master’s degree in electrical engineering at Toronto Metropolitan University.
Burgwin’s rich and varied industry experience gives him great insights into the needs of Ontario engineers. His passion for data, problem-solving, and community service are what encourage him to volunteer his unique skill set to the OSPE Board of Directors.

Meggen Janes, P.Eng., M.Sc., QPRA, QPESA
Vice Chair
Meggen Janes, P.Eng., is a principal at Geosyntec and an Executive Director at the Canadian Brownfields Network. Previously, Meggen has worked in management roles at Waterfront Toronto and Earth Tech (now AECOM).
As a board director, she is excited to use her consulting and relationship building skills to remove barriers, increase diversity, and support newcomers and young people in the engineering profession.
Meggen holds a B.A.Sc. in Geological Engineering from University of Toronto and an M.Sc. in Environmental Engineering from University of Guelph. She has also served as a graduate course instructor at Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU, formerly Ryerson University) and delivers frequent guest lectures at University of Toronto and TMU. Outside of her work with OSPE, she has volunteered with the Qualified Person Community of Ontario Steering Committee and served on the Board of Canadian Brownfield Network (including two years as vice-president).
Shelly Deitner, P.Eng.
Treasurer
Shelly Deitner, P.Eng., is a project director and senior environmental engineer at WSP. As an engineering consultant with over 20 years of experience, Shelly believes engineers have an obligation to use their problem-solving skills to not only lead but advance the engineering profession and to make it more equitable, diverse and inclusive.
Shelly has served on the boards of the Ontario Professional Engineers Foundation for Education, the YWCA of Kitchener-Waterloo and as an International Senator of the Society of Women Engineers, all contributing to her experience in governance, strategic planning and finance.
Additionally, Shelly’s passion for advancing equity in the profession is clearly displayed through her volunteer efforts. Shelly acted as Chair of OSPE’s Women in Engineering Advocacy Champions Task Force and was a 30 by 30 Champion for Engineers Canada.
Working with diverse teams on complex projects has also equipped Shelly to bring relationship building, collaboration and project management skills to her role on the OSPE Board.
John Hazel, P.Eng., FEC
Secretary
Throughout his career, John has applied strong business strategy, technical expertise, and a passion for innovation. These skills have led to roles overseeing global teams and delivering innovative product and service solutions.
As a board director, he seeks to advance OSPE’s strategic goals, champion advocacy initiatives, foster member development, and strengthen connections across the engineering community.
He holds an MBA from the University of Ottawa and a B.Eng. from Concordia University. A Professional Engineer for over 30 years, he is a Fellow of Engineers Canada and a recipient of PEO’s Order of Honour. He has held numerous volunteer leadership roles with PEO’s Ottawa Chapter, including Chair, Vice-Chair, and committee lead.
David Carnegie, P.Eng.
Past Chair
Dave Carnegie, P.Eng., MBA, is a senior engineer at Malroz Engineering. An environmental consultant and owner of a small business, David is passionate about the role engineers can play in a complex, intersectional society.
With over ten years of volunteer experience, David hopes to leverage this knowledge to further cement Ontario engineer’s position as valuable pillars of society. His experience in various fields has allowed him to understand and appreciate the value of diverse and multi-disciplinary teams, and he hopes to continue promoting cross platform learning among sectors and professionals. He has served on the OSPE membership advisory committee since 2016, been a guest speaker at OSPE’s Skills and Jobs Environmental Program, and as an OSPE representative on the MECP Soil Engagement Group.
David holds a M.Sc. in chemical engineering and an MBA, both from Queen’s University. He is also involved with the Ontario Environmental Industry Association, chair of the Kingston Economic Development Cooperation Board, Beaty Water Research Center advisory board, and the Smith School of Business advisory board.
Dr. Sandra Ausma, P.Eng.
Director
Dr. Sandra Ausma, P.Eng. has over 30 years’ experience working in a variety of sectors including academic research in both Canada and Germany, consulting engineering and government.
She is retired from the Ontario Public Service after serving in both the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry.
Sandra previously served on the OSPE Board from 2015-20160. As well she is a director on the board of Ontario Professional Engineers Foundation for Education and she is a past councillor and vice president of PEO. Sandra is a dedicated and passionate volunteer, and in 2016 was recognized with an Ontario Women’s Directorate Leading Women Building Communities Award. She is committed to continuing efforts to remove barriers and diversify the profession, supporting OSPE to overcome future challenges to the profession.
She obtained her B.A.Sc. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Waterloo, M.Sc. in Biological Engineering and Ph.D. in Land Resource Science from the University of Guelph.
Nick Colucci, P.Eng.
Director
Nick Colucci, P.Eng. has been an OSPE member since its inception in 2000, showing his longtime dedication to Ontario’s engineers.
Colucci’s 35+ year-long engineering career began at the University of Waterloo in Ontario where he studied civil engineering before receiving his MBA from the University of Windsor, England through distance learning.
Throughout his long career he has worked for Greenrock Engineering Ltd., the Town of Erin, the Township of Brock, and the Township of Tay working on public works, infrastructure and operations at a director level.
Colucci, has recently accepted a position at the Township of Muskoka Lakes as the Director of Operational Services and has served on several boards, including the PEO board, where he was president and chair, the ON1Call board, the Ontario Public Works Association board and the Municipal Engineers Association board.
Feyisayo Enuiyin
Director
Feyisayo Enuiyin studied chemical engineering at McMaster University and held positions at notable companies like the Royal Bank of Canada, Bell Canada, and Geotab before venturing out on her own. Feyisayo is now the Co-Founder and CEO of Ajamjo, an AI-powered guest intelligence platform for boutique hotels, short-term rental hosts, and independent hospitality operators.
Feyisayo’s goal on the OSPE board is to represent Ontario’s engineers and actively shape how engineering leadership evolves in a rapidly changing technological environment. With a background in chemical engineering and experience as a technology founder, Feyisayo is motivated to help ensure OSPE remains forward-looking, relevant, and accessible to the next generation of engineers.
As a founder, Feyisayo has built governance and accountability systems, aligned stakeholders, and made long-horizon decisions. She is Co-Director of events at Girls Into VC, a global community building access to venture capital for women, and has spoken at Harvard University, Elevate Festival, and other industry stages. She also founded the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) McMaster Entrance Award, supporting Black engineering students at her alma mater.
Her work in emerging technology provides insight into how quickly the profession is evolving and the importance of balancing innovation with strong engineering principles. Feyisayo brings an execution-oriented mindset, community engagement experience, and a genuine commitment to strengthening opportunity and relevance for Ontario engineers.
Jonathan Hack, P.Eng.
Director
Jonathan Hack, P.Eng., MBA, PMP, is the Dean of Centennial Innovates – Applied Research, Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Centennial College.
Jonathan is proud to be a Professional Engineer with over 30 years of experience. Jonathan has held various positions at General Motors, Bombardier and Centennial College. He’s also been a Board Director for the Ontario Professional Engineers Foundation for Education, the Canadian Society of Professional Engineers, the Yves Landry Foundation, and the Ontario Society of Professional Engineers.
Having served on the OSPE Board previously, Jonathan helped establish the first Professional Engineers Day in Ontario. Being present in Queens Park when the announcement was read in the legislature is a moment he’ll never forget.
Jonathan also spearheaded the growth of OSPE’s Engineering Conference which is now the largest conference of its kind in Canada and led other public advocacy initiatives such as “An Engineer was Here”.
As he returns to the OSPE Board, Jonathan seeks to embrace change through a solid foundation of engineering knowledge and strengthen initiatives designed to improve the practice and impact of engineering in Ontario.
Inga Hipsz, M.A.Sc., P.Eng.
Director
Inga Hipsz, with a background in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Toronto, is dedicated to process improvement and team empowerment.
Inga began her career at Kodak Canada, where she quickly rose through the ranks by implementing Lean manufacturing to boost efficiency and reduce defects, earning the Kodak Operating System Leadership Award.
At CSA Group, she led Lean improvements in nuclear standards, doubling industry funding and receiving the President’s Innovation Award. She later became Regional VP of CSA’s Testing, Inspection, and Certification business, driving operational turnaround through data-driven leadership. Now as VP of Standards, Strategic Development, she expands CSA’s impact across new sectors.
Inga also champions diversity, mentors aspiring women engineers, and is active in education and community initiatives.
Raymond Mantha, P.Eng., FEC
Director
Raymond Mantha, P.Eng. is a retired engineer who dedicated 34 years to the Ontario Government holding two Assistant Deputy Minister level positions, most recently at the Ministry of Northern Development, Mines and Forestry, directing the renewal of Ontario’s Mining Act and the re-engineering of the ministry’s mining division.
Prior to that, he held progressively responsible positions at the Ministry of Transportation, serving as its Chief Engineer and Provincial Highways Management Executive Director, responsible for a broad range of policies, standards, and investment strategies for Ontario’s roadways. He led Ontario’s transportation response to the fall-out post 911 including the planning and early design of the new Gordy Howe Bridge between Windsor and Detroit which is now under construction.
He recently completed a four-year term as the Executive Director of the Transportation Association of Canada Foundation where he led the fundraising initiatives in support of developing tomorrow’s transportation professionals through scholarships, internships, and other assistance as appropriate. He served as an external member on the Morrison Hershfield, Consulting Engineers, board of directors from 2013 to 2021 and was board Chair from 2018 to 2020.
He obtained his Bachelor of Applied Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Ottawa.
Dr. Marilyn Powers, P.Eng.
Director
Dr. Marilyn Powers, P.Eng. has dedicated her career to applying technological advances to help people learn: from immersive simulations to learning management systems.
Her experience working with start-ups and within long-standing corporations, from high-tech healthcare solutions to SaaS software, has provided her with tools and frameworks that use the scientific mindset to set hypotheses, run experiments to validate learning and adjust accordingly. She believes these competencies complement the OSPE values of leadership, collaboration, and guidance by facts.
Marilyn achieved a Ph.D. and master’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Calgary and she earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Waterloo. After success in an innovative role at Mohawk College, she has taken over as the Dean of Engineering and Technology at Conestoga College as of May 2024.
Marilyn brings a unique perspective to OSPE’s Board of Directors and as a past Chair is eager to support OSPE’s mission and vision.
Marilyn has completed the ICD-Rotman Directors Education Program.
Beatrice Sze, P.Eng., J.D.
Director
Beatrice Sze, P.Eng. is a civil servant with the Federal Government of Canada. Beatrice studied mechanical engineering at the University of Toronto, after which she worked in the Canadian nuclear sector where she worked on the retrofit and life extension of CANDU nuclear reactors.
After earning her P. Eng. from PEO for her work in the nuclear sector, Beatrice attended Osgoode Hall Law School where she earned a Juris Doctorate in Canadian law focusing on Intellectual Property and Administrative Law. Beatrice then trained and worked at two of Canada’s top law firms before starting her own law practice, which she ran successfully for 6 years before accepting an invitation to join the Government of Canada where she works (happily) to serve Canadian interests to this day.
As a licensed engineer and litigator, Beatrice has spent the last 15 years advocating for and defending the interests of Canadian engineering teams working on complex technical and public policy matters.
Beatrice has volunteered with OSPE since 2019, serving first as the chair of the Data Working Group, then as chair of the Research and Innovation Task Force before joining OSPE’s Board of directors in 2024.
Beatrice has appreciated her role in promoting engineering thought-leadership and representing the interests of the profession. She encourages engineering-graduate-professionals in all industries to continue the important work of finding their Voice and engaging in civic discourse as part of their contribution to the public interest.
Sandro Perruzza, ICD.D, CRSP
Chief Executive Officer (Ex Officio non-voting)
Sandro Perruzza joined OSPE as CEO in July 2014. A strategic thinker and innovative leader, Sandro holds over ten years of executive management experience.
Sandro is recognized for his ability to build high-growth organizations. He specializes in increasing revenue, developing innovative strategy, improving client-services, and building corporate government relations through a collaborative approach.
In his previous role as Chief of Client Services at Workplace Safety & Prevention Services (WSPS), Sandro provided leadership to over 150 professional staff, including five Directors and one Vice President. During his time at WSPS, Sandro was a sitting member of the Ministry of Labour’s Prevention Operations Forum and on the Board of Directors of Minerva, which worked to embed health and safety curriculum into University business and engineering programs across Canada.
Prior to joining WSPS, Sandro worked at the Ontario Service Safety Alliance for over 11 years where he served as Executive Director of Corporate Development, Acting Vice President of Client Services and Director of Sales.
Sandro holds a Bachelor of Science in Statistics from McMaster University.
Caroline Wojtyla, P.Eng.
Director
Caroline Wojtyla, P.Eng, is a project engineer with Liberty Power, and previously worked in various roles at GP Joule, Canopy Labs, and Black and Veatch.
As a board director, Caroline aims to support OSPE’s task forces, drive member engagement, advocate with government and industry groups, and raise the association’s profile with academic and professional organizations.
Caroline holds a B.Sc. in Civil Engineering from Ryerson University (now Toronto Metropolitan University), where she served as co-president and VP of the school’s Engineers Without Borders chapter. She has also volunteered as a mentor with the Society of Women Engineers, as government affairs liaison with the Water Environment Association of Ontario, and as a member of OSPE’s Environment Task Force. Currently, she is one of the organizers at the Women in Business Development Connects Group at Liberty Power.
Jane Ravenshaw, P.Eng.
Director
Jane Ravenshaw, P.Eng. is the President of one-two-five inc., a consulting company focused on marketing and customer experience technology platforms. She is passionate about Diversity and Inclusion and has many ideas of how to support women and minorities in industry. She understands the importance of technology and green programs and is excited to influence growth and government policy. She is passionate about growing OSPE’s membership and influencing policy.
She obtained her Bachelor of Applied Science in Industrial Engineering from the University of Toronto, and her Master of Applied Science in Management Science from the University of Waterloo. She also obtained her PMP certification and was certified as an executive coach from Royal Roads University.
