The Audit and Finance Committee is a standing committee of the Board that makes recommendations on policies affecting the Society’s finances and oversees the audit of its annual financial statements. The committee recommends the appointment of auditors for approval by members at the Annual General Meeting, establishes policies and recommendations for Society funds, and reviews the annual draft audited financial statements prior to distribution to the membership. The committee is chaired by the Treasurer and includes three additional members of the Board of Directors.

The Executive Committee is a standing committee of the Board that acts as an operational advisory committee to the Chief Executive Officer. The Executive Committee does not set policy, but rather facilitates the activities of the Board and acts on behalf of the Board when required to do so. The Executive Committee is comprised of OSPE’s Chairperson, Vice Chairperson, Past Chairperson, Treasurer and Secretary. The Chief Executive Officer is an ex officio non-voting member of the Committee.

The Ontario Professional Engineers Foundation for Education provides scholarships to encourage students to pursue careers in the engineering profession. The Foundation makes funds available to each engineering school in Ontario, which awards the scholarships according to criteria established by the Foundation. The Foundation also includes the Professional Engineers Benevolent Fund, which provides temporary financial assistance to professional engineers and their families in extenuating circumstances. Both the scholarship program and the Benevolent Fund are financed through donations from Ontario professional engineers. The Human Resources Committee provides oversight to OSPE’s compensation structure and philosophy. The Committee is chaired by the OSPE Chairperson and includes two additional members of the Board of Directors.

The Nominating Committee is responsible for preparing a slate of candidates for OSPE’s annual Board elections. This committee is chaired by a Board member who is not up for re-election and includes four additional Committee members made up of Regular members of OSPE (who may also be Board member no up for re-election). Election candidates may be nominated by members at large or by the Nominations Committee. It is up to this Committee to ensure that the confirmed slate of candidates meet all criteria set our by OSPE bylaws, including adequate regional and sector representation.
