With over ten years of volunteer experience, David hopes to leverage this knowledge to further cement Ontario engineer’s position as valuable pillars of society. His experience in various fields has allowed him to understand and appreciate the value of diverse and multi-disciplinary teams, and he hopes to continue promoting cross platform learning among sectors and professionals. He has served on the OSPE membership advisory committee since 2016, been a guest speaker at OSPE’s Skills and Jobs Environmental Program, and as an OSPE representative on the MECP Soil Engagement Group.

David holds a M.Sc. in chemical engineering and an MBA, both from Queen’s University. He is also involved with the Ontario Environmental Industry Association, chair of the Kingston Economic Development Cooperation Board, Beaty Water Research Center advisory board, and the Smith School of Business advisory board.

Jayne Greene-Black

He has worked in academic institutions, including Toronto Metropolitan University and the University of Toronto, and he is now currently establishing the North American presence for a large European company in the green energy space.

Burgwin’s rich and varied industry experience gives him great insights into the needs of Ontario engineers. His passion for data, problem-solving, and community service are what encourage him to volunteer his unique skill set to the OSPE Board of Directors.

Burgwin studied electrical engineering at the University of Toronto and completed his master’s degree in electrical engineering at Toronto Metropolitan University.

Angie Bjornson

Senior Associate

As a board director, she is excited to use her consulting and relationship building skills to remove barriers, increase diversity, and support newcomers and young people in the engineering profession.

Meggen holds a B.A.Sc. in Geological Engineering from University of Toronto and an M.Sc. in Environmental Engineering from University of Guelph. She has also served as a graduate course instructor at Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU, formerly Ryerson University) and delivers frequent guest lectures at University of Toronto and TMU. Outside of her work with OSPE, she has volunteered with the Qualified Person Community of Ontario Steering Committee and served on the Board of Canadian Brownfield Network (including two years as vice-president).

Heidi Heung

Client Service Lead & Coordinator

Prior to that, he held progressively responsible positions at the Ministry of Transportation, serving as its Chief Engineer and Provincial Highways Management Executive Director, responsible for a broad range of policies, standards, and investment strategies for Ontario’s roadways. He led Ontario’s transportation response to the fall-out post 911 including the planning and early design of the new Gordy Howe Bridge between Windsor and Detroit which is now under construction.

He recently completed a four-year term as the Executive Director of the Transportation Association of Canada Foundation where he led the fundraising initiatives in support of developing tomorrow’s transportation professionals through scholarships, internships, and other assistance as appropriate. He served as an external member on the Morrison Hershfield, Consulting Engineers, board of directors from 2013 to 2021 and was board Chair from 2018 to 2020.

He obtained his Bachelor of Applied Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Ottawa.
