Customizable Training Option for Electrical Professionals

The Canadian Electrical Code, Part I, provides fundamental guidance for the safety of electrical installations and systems, establishing guidelines and requirements necessary to reduce risks of electric shock, fires, and other electrical hazards.

As electrical technology, materials, and equipment evolve, regular updates help ensure that the Code remains aligned with advancements in the field, allowing electrical professionals to work safely and efficiently with cutting-edge tools and technologies. CSA Group training can help these professionals understand the essential requirements of the Code, as well as how the Code updates may impact their work.

What is new in the 2024 Canadian Electrical Code

The latest edition of CSA C22.1, Canadian Electrical Code, Part ISafety Standard for Electrical Installations, was published in spring 2024. It introduced significant updates in many areas, including:

  • energy storage and renewable energy systems requirements to support low-carbon emission policies
  • electrical installation requirements to help prepare buildings for more electric vehicles
  • extending electrical safety requirements for health care facilities to basic care areas
  • guidance for the maintenance of electrical systems to improve safety

With these and other updates, the Code continues to provide a consistent foundation for the safe and efficient use of electricity across Canada, helping to protect lives, property, and the environment.
