CANDIDATE STATEMENT

I am seeking the privilege of serving you and our engineering colleagues as an OSPE board director.

As an environmental consultant and owner of an Ontario based geo-environmental science and engineering services provider, I am familiar with, and passionate about, the capacity of engineers to solve the complex challenges we face as a society by bridging technical, social and economic interests. Engineers are well equipped to lead but so often shy away from doing so, and for this reason I am aligned with OSPE’s vision and mission – to help engineering professionals find their voice and ensure that it is heard.

For more than 10 years I have engaged with my local community by volunteering time with a municipal advisory committee, economic development corporation board of directors and continued efforts to give back to my alma mater through advisory and mentorship activities. As an OSPE representative at the Ministry of the Environment’s consultations leading to updates to the Record of Site Condition regulation and a new regulation and rules regarding the management of excess soil, my interest in taking on a greater role with OSPE has grown.

My educational, professional and volunteer experiences provide a strong foundation to be an effective contributor to the OSPE board. Through these experiences I have developed a deeper appreciation of the wisdom of diverse and multi-disciplinary teams, and to this end I will continue to support the advancement of opportunities for us to learn from each other, across disciplines, sectors, and professions. Furthermore, I will continue to support OSPE’s efforts to advocate for engineers to be at the table when evidence-based decisions are being made to advance our society in a productive, safe and innovative manner.
