The Ontario Society of Professional Engineers (OSPE) is proud to announce that we are partnering with White Ribbon on a 26-month initiative, titled “Engineering Change: A White Ribbon Sexual Harassment Intervention and Prevention Program.” This project, running until March 31, 2027, is a significant step forward in fostering a safer and more inclusive engineering sector across Canada.
At OSPE, we recognize the importance of creating respectful and equitable workplaces in engineering. That’s why we are committed to preventing and addressing sexual harassment across the profession through this initiative. The project will employ a comprehensive, multi-faceted approach, ensuring that individuals and organizations have access to the best resources and training available. This includes:
- Development of an Online Certificate Training Program – A comprehensive digital training program tailored to the engineering sector, offering practical strategies to prevent and address workplace harassment.
- In-Person Training Sessions – Facilitated learning opportunities to engage professionals in meaningful discussions and skill-building exercises.
- Annual Social Media and Communications Campaigns – Public awareness campaigns aimed at fostering a culture of respect, inclusivity, and zero tolerance for harassment in engineering.
- A Multi-Pronged Evaluation Strategy – Two expert evaluators, Meredith Davis and Ian DeGeer, will lead an in-depth evaluation of the project’s outcomes. Each evaluator brings unique expertise while also working collaboratively to assess impact and effectiveness.
We understand that achieving real change requires collective effort and strategic partnerships. By collaborating with White Ribbon, we are reinforcing our commitment to equipping engineers and engineering organizations with the necessary tools to foster a respectful and harassment-free industry.
