Official Statement from OSPE in Opposition to the Protest Against the Trans + and 2SLGBTQIA+ Community

The Ontario Society of Professional Engineers (OSPE) opposes the protests targeting the Trans+ and 2SLGBTQIA+ community. Our organization is dedicated to upholding the principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion, and we believe in fostering an inclusive society where every individual is treated with respect and dignity.

The protests in question go against the core values of OSPE, which include advocating for the rights and well-being of all individuals, irrespective of their sexual orientation, gender identity, or expression. It is essential to recognize that schools should be safe and inclusive spaces for everyone, including members of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community.

We stand firmly against any form of discrimination, hate, or intolerance directed towards this community or any other marginalized group. We call upon all individuals and organizations to join us in promoting a more inclusive and equitable society where diversity is celebrated, and where everyone has the opportunity to thrive without fear of discrimination or prejudice.

As engineers and professionals, we are committed to using our knowledge, skills, and influence to support initiatives that advance equality and diversity in all aspects of society. We urge everyone to work together to create a more inclusive world where every person, regardless of their background, can live, learn, and work in an environment that values and respects their rights and identity.

In solidarity,

Ontario Society of Professional Engineers (OSPE)
