Welcome to the OSPE Blog: Society Notes

Hello there! Welcome to the Ontario Society of Professional Engineers’ official blog Society Notes.

Have you heard of OSPE? We are the voice of engineering practitioners in Ontario.  We represent the entire engineering community, including licensed and unlicensed professionals, graduates, and students who work or will work in several of the most strategic sectors of Ontario’s economy.

Our organization has an office at Yonge & Sheppard in Toronto. This is our team:

Ontario Society of Professional Engineers
The OSPE Team

We all work in several different departments, including Advocacy & Government Relations, Professional Development, Career Services, Membership, Events, Governance & Administration, Finance, Marketing, and Communications & Digital Media.

OSPE is launching the Society Notes blog to answer the questions that our members and non-members have been asking for too long, such as why should I be a member, what value do I get, and why do you need my voice?

OSPE’s goal is to raise awareness around the issues impacting engineers in this province. Many are struggling to find employment in their field of study, or are feeling undervalued and overlooked in their current roles. Most believe the contributions of the engineering profession are not recognized or acknowledged by the public.

It is OSPE’s job to influence change on behalf of the engineering profession – but we need your help. Engineers play a vital role in the success of OSPE. We want to leverage the experiences and expertise of Ontario’s engineers so we can continue to influence policy and planning, and have meaningful discussions with government, media and the public about the critical issues impacting our society and where engineers fit in.

We encourage you to provide feedback and leave comments on our blog posts. If you have ideas, comments or a story to share, you can contact Carolyn Smith, OSPE’s Manager of Communications and Digital Media at csmith@ospe.on.ca.

Thanks for following!
