Life protecting masks have been delivered to Ontario Hospitals.
Last week, the Ontario General Contractors Association (OGCA), OGCA members and the Ontario Society of Professional Engineers (OSPE), in partnership with Alliance Creative Marketing, delivered 10,000 surgical masks to health care workers in Ontario. As Ontario works through these unprecedented events, the industry wanted to provide immediate relief and support to front line workers battling the COVID-19 crisis.
Alliance Creative Marketing acquired the surgical masks and appealed to clients to come together to donate to priority healthcare workers through the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care.
“We are doing everything we can as contractors and as an association to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and protect our front line workers,” said Clive Thurston, President of the OGCA. “Lisa
Tam presented us with an opportunity, and Remo General Contracting, Dineen Construction, Gen-Pro, the League of Champions and OSPE stepped up under the leadership of Alliance
Creative Marketing when it mattered most.”
“The OGCA views the donation as part of our mission to promote safety excellence among all workers. It is just the start of the construction industry providing much of the equipment front line workers so desperately need.”
OSPE also views its contribution during this crisis as an extension of its mandate to lead, care, and unite. As CEO Perruzza says, “OSPE continues to work hard on behalf of the engineering community. In this time of crisis, we believe the leadership that the voice of engineers can provide is more important than ever.” Perruzza says, “In this turbulent atmosphere, OSPE has been actively working with industry and government partners towards finding solutions that will mitigate the health and economic impact of COVID-19 for engineers and the entire construction and design community.”
The work by our organizations did not go unnoticed. The Premier, Doug Ford, recognized both OSPE and the OGCA for their contribution to the front line workers.
