The Ontario Society of Professional Engineers (OSPE) Announces New Communication Partnership with Notarius

The Ontario Society of Professional Engineers (OSPE) is pleased to announce that it has entered a joint communication partnership with Notarius, a company that specializes in digital signatures. Virginia Wilson, Marketing Director, Notarius, and Baijul Shukla, Director, Member Services & Strategic Partners, OSPE, believe a partnership of this nature will serve the engineering community in Ontario, by providing educational tools and content to help engineers develop digital best practices to properly protect their official documents and identities.

Notarius, with 25 years of experience in digital signatures, sees this communication partnership with OSPE as a natural extension of what Notarius already does in other provinces.  OSPE represents a natural fit for this partnership, since it is the advocacy body for the engineering profession in Ontario.  “Digital signatures are designed to protect the public and enable professionals to sign electronic documents with the same legal value as a handwritten signature. Our objective with this partnership is to bring insight to accelerate the pace of digital transformation in our communities,” says Wilson.

Since 2000, OSPE’s primary function is to advocate on behalf of the engineering community in Ontario, and part of that includes the safety and integrity of engineering documentation.  “As technology advances, the profession itself is changing and this partnership will allow Professional Engineers a new way to sign their documents while continuing to ensure public safety is at forefront of what they do,” says Shukla.

Both Notarius and OSPE will undertake collaborate communication and outreach to inform Ontario’s engineering community on the importance of digital signatures.  This outreach will be done via workshops, local and national events and social media.
