OSPE welcomes Dianne Sax, Ph.D, Ontario Green Party Deputy Leader

Last week, OSPE had the pleasure of hosting a Fight Against Climate Change event with invited guest Dianne Saxe, Ph.D, Deputy Leader of the Ontario Green Party. Dianne has been the Party’s Deputy Leader since November, 2020 and previously served as the Ontario Environment Commissioner, tirelessly working to raise awareness about the climate crisis.

Quoting the UN Secretary General, Dianne reminded us that the level the climate crisis has reached has been described as an atlas for human suffering and there is no time left for delay. Dianne presented the Roadmap to Net Zero: Ontario Greens Climate Plan highlighting their top pillars:

  • Crush Climate Pollution
  • Restore Water and Nature
  • Succeed Together

Members had the opportunity to ask questions and share their concerns with the opportunity of hearing directly from an integral member of the Green Party. We encourage our members to review the plan, and the party’s proposals towards reaching a net zero economy.

Our Task Forces have also sent a detailed response to the Green Party’s Climate Plan, which can be found here.

At the Ontario Society of Professional Engineers, we understand the climate crisis is a real threat and engineers should be at the forefront of systemic change in the battle against climate change. As the advocacy body for engineers in Ontario, we encourage all levels of government to act now on this pressing issue.

OSPE members are invited to our second Climate Crisis Consultation, hosted on March 16th. Our member consultations will direct OSPE’s advocacy work. Please register here
