The OSPE Mentorship Program features talented and experienced mentors who are excited to provide you with guidance on a variety of topics related to the engineering experience. Oliver Xiao, P.Eng.

 
Oliver is a licensed civil engineer specializing in the construction and building materials industry. He has extensive experience working on infrastructure projects, engineering codes and standards, government policies and R&D. Oliver previously worked for a large vertical integrated construction company before joining the industry association. He is currently responsible for Ontario market development at a niche construction solution firm servicing the infrastructure industry.

Volunteering with multiple professional associations, Oliver helped numerous young professionals and internationally trained engineering graduates in successfully completing their PEO licensing process. He is currently board director at PEO York Chapter and ACI Ontario Chapter. Oliver is also a past Chair of the OSPE Infrastructure Task Force.

Changiz Sadr, P.Eng., FEC, CISSP

 
Changiz Sadr is a retired Telecom engineer with over 40 years of industry experience focusing on the Communications Infrastructure and Cybersecurity. Since early 2000, he has been involved in mentoring and coaching of professionals helping them to find their professional directions.

Changiz knows the value of having right guidance for professionals on their journeys in becoming the best versions of themselves. He makes every effort to be the help and support that he wishes he had.

Karen Chan, P.Eng., FEC

 
Karen is an Executive and Enterprise Agile Coach at ADAPTOVATE, with experience in sales engineering, automotive design and manufacturing, digital media, technology consulting, financial services, fintech, digital transformation and scaling agile ways of working. She graduated from mechanical engineering and has also completed a BA (English) and MBA (Executive). Karen volunteers extensively in engineering and her roles include Past-President OSPE, PEO Lake Ontario Chapter Past Chair, SWE Global Ambassador, Women for STEM Advisory Council at Ontario Tech U, Advisory Council Western Engineering, and OSPE D&I Task Force.

Gary Tamber, P.Eng., CISM

 
Gary Tamber, P.Eng., CISM, is an accomplished Engineering Leader with proven hands-on experience in leading technical teams to meet strategic business objectives. He has led teams effectively at various corporations to transform the software testing and delivery process using modern tools & practices such as Agile Methodology (SAFe), DevOps (CI/CD) while leveraging Cloud computing services and with Security in mind. Gary is passionate about mentoring software engineers by encouraging them to explore hot technology fields such as Cloud Computing, DevOps and Cyber Security!

Cecilia Nwoye, M.Eng.

 
Cecilia Nwoye, M.Eng. is a young professional completing a master’s degree in engineering with a minor in chemical engineering from the University of Ottawa. She started out as an undergraduate intern at a brewery and later at a refinery. After she obtained her B.Eng. in chemical engineering, she progressed to the oil and gas sector as an Inspection Engineering Methods and Support. Cecilia has over nine years of office and offshore experience spanning risk-based inspection, non-destructive testing, corrosion monitoring and control of topside structures and pressurized systems.

She understands the value of right guidance for students in choosing the right career path and is excited to help and support students and young professionals develop the requisite skills to realize their career goals and succeed in engineering.

Zubair Hossain P.Eng.

 
Zubair is an internationally trained professional, who is now a P.Eng. in the province of Ontario. After obtaining his Master’s in Civil (Environmental) Engineering from Queen’s University, Zubair started working in Environmental consulting. He is currently working in Parliament of Canada’s Centre Block Rehabilitation Project as a Project Engineer, and he is proud to be a part of one of Canada’s largest infrastructure projects.
Zubair started mentoring others as he believes this is a great way to give back to the community. He is eager to share his experiences with enthusiastic mentees, as this gives him great fulfillment in helping someone to achieve their career goals.

Bryan Meyers

 
Bryan is a young professional working as a consultant in the contaminated sites assessment and remediation industry. After graduating from the University of Guelph in environmental engineering, Bryan began working as a lead researcher for a remediation technology start-up before transitioning into consulting. Through his experiences, Bryan has developed a passion for helping guide young professionals to become competent leaders with a focus on personal wellness.
Bryan understands the stress and uncertainty encountered when building a career or transitioning to something new. He is ready to help you gain perspective on your career and provide insights into building resilience against stresses encountered in the workplace.

Neil Ali, P.Eng.

 
Neil is a senior electrical engineer and team leader with over two decades of experience in electrical design, construction supervision, and project management. His diverse experience includes projects in numerous business sectors, including infrastructure, culture and recreation, education, institutional, residential, commercial, and industrial. The combination of his experience, design, and project management skills make him a strong asset to any project team. Neil is currently employed in an Associate level with a private integrated design firm specialising in building construction.
Neil has provided mentorship and guidance to a number of engineers, EIT’s and technologists throughout his career, some of whom have moved on into leadership positions in various organisations. His aim to provide the same to upcoming professionals in the engineering field in order to help them achieve their personal and career goals.

Vera Belousova, P.Eng.

 
Vera is a dedicated material and chemical engineer with over 15 years of experience in the technology of various materials and chemicals in the ceramics, steel and non-ferrous industries. Vera developed several refractory ceramic materials which are successfully used in Canada and the US.She aims to support newcomers to Canada, chemical and materials professionals, how to meet the requirements for licensure of Professional Engineer of Ontario.
Vera is also a member of the OSPE Environment Task Force.
